Makoto Azuma - Botanical Sculpture
Der japanische Künstler Makoto Azuma gibt der traditionsreichen Pflanzenkunst seines Landes eine neue Dimension; jenseits von Ikebana. Spektakulär und hochästhetisch arrangiert Azuma seine "botanical sculptures" als künstlerisch verfremdete Installationen wie beispielsweise ein Bonsai-Bäumchen, das er in einen Eisklotz einfriert oder magisch, in blassblauem Wasser, schweben lässt. Zu sehen waren Azumas Skulpturen 2008 im NRW-Forum in Düsseldorf. ----- The Japanese artist Makoto Azuma gives the traditional art plants in his country a new dimension, beyond Ikebana. Spectacular and highly aesthetically Azuma arranged his "botanical sculptures" as alienated artistic installations, such as a bonsai tree, which is freezes into an ice block or floating in light blue water. Universal Forum of Cultures 2007: Water + 2501 Migrantes
the river cutting through Fundidadora park in Monterrey, Mexico, where the majority of the Forum installations, exhibits, and performances took place, had this water installation in it as the base of a bridge -- containing the waves within a small radius of the base. The second clip in this video shows a sculpture installation, 2501 Migrantes, that focuses on remembering all the individuals that have (and continue) to leave the small Oaxacan town that the artist is from.

Blushing OOAK mini baby sculpture
Blushing & painting with Genesis Heat Set Paints. The colors: I use a thinned brown color for all the creases and wipe off the excess. Blush is done with a dry-brushed red. Fragments Sculptures by Blake
Following his Fragments project that received global media attention, Monaco based Canadian sculptor Blake will reveal a new series of marble sculptures at Art Monaco '10. With his Fragments project Blake poignantly applied the classical partial body form to benefit a cause that aims to avoid the further maiming of bodies caused by the legacy of landmines, left behind long after armed conflicts have been resolved. Following recent successful exhibitions in London and New York, Blake's elegant new series sculptured in Carrara marble, will be exhibited at Art Monaco '10 Contempoary Art Salon in the Grimaldi Forum 29 Apr - 02 May 10. Blake is represented by Kehrig Fine Art.

Hannah Wilke: Sculptor and Sculpture
Tracy Fitzpatrick, Neuberger Museum of Art Curator and Assistant Professor of Art History at SUNY Purchase, gave a lecture, "Hannah Wilke: Sculptor and Sculpture," in which she discussed how the artist's sculptural practices inform her diverse body of work.
